I hope this message finds you well. I am experiencing an issue with my laptop. When I plug in the charger, the indicator light turns white at 90% charge instead of 100%. I would like to know how to resolve this issue so that the white light appears only when the battery is fully charged.

@Triveni1557, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding charger setting issue!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand you're experiencing an issue with your laptop indicator light showing white at 90% charge instead of at full 100%. To resolve this issue, you can try the following steps:

Check Battery Calibration: Sometimes the battery needs recalibration as the battery charge indicators might misrepresent the actual charge level. You can do this by fully charging the battery and then fully discharging it to reset the charge indicators.

Update Battery Drivers: Ensure that your laptop's battery and power management drivers are up-to-date. You can check for driver updates through the device manager.

Battery Health: Access your laptop’s battery health settings (usually found in power settings) to ensure it accurately reflects the battery’s state. Some laptops have setting options that might stop charging at a percentage below 100% to preserve battery life.

Check Power Settings: In some HP laptops, specific power settings might be adjusted to preserve battery life by charging only up to a certain percentage. You can review and modify these settings through the HP BIOS or HP Support Assistant.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
