It would appear  that it was faulty    so I got a full refund,   purchased  another  one  froma different surplier  which   loaded  the    driver correctly  and appears  on my  Devises and printers,   put  the rogue  hard drive  in,   now  where do i veiw  the contents  ( if any )    I have    tried  c:\ drive >  windows   but  cannot  fathom out  what to do  next

Sorry about that.  I guess chrome glitched and i was replying to another form and it changed to this one.

If you can boot to Windows from a different drive try and open the hard drive like normal by going to file explorer and looking for the one with your files.  If you hear any kind of click coming from the drive it is dead and can't be saved at this point.

ahhhhh    when i first     tried it  in the original   notebook     it was clicking     when  i was  trying  it

I'm sorry about the loss of data.  I wish there was more that we could do but if the drive is clicking then there is nothing more that can be done.  Professional Data Recovery Service's might be able to get your data back but they usually are VERY expensive so you need to put a price on your data.  Do you need it so bad that you would spend a few grand to get them back or will you leave it in the past and start fresh?
