how do i enable my hardware assited virtualization on my pc. please also tell me the benefits of this and if it could harm my pc.

One of my app is requesting for it, for fast performance. I did a research on it and from what i have read so far it seem to be a good thing, but i would really like to know if it could affect my laptop negatively

Hi,

Enter your computers BIOS.. ( for my Notebook, when you turn on the device, keep pressing ESC until the menu comes up then enter BIOS ).. if Windows starts loading then you missed the BIOS and try again, or find your computers 'Enter BIOS' key.

There will be an option for 'Virtualization' to be Enabled/Disabled in the features. Enable this and save and quit.

Virtualization allows the computer to pretend that it has multiple CPU's, thus allowing multiple operating systems to run at the same time using third party software like VMware or VirtualBox.  This allows someone for instance to be running Linux from within Windows, or a host of other operating systems.  Be aware though that this is memory intensive and most notebooks should have a memory of at least 8 GB to utilize this or there may be quite a bit of harddrive activity due to virtual memory.
