It's a driver problem, I think you must wait until they fix it in another release or you can uninstall it and install generic drivers found in the synaptic website.

That is not true. Uninstalling the driver and installing a different driver does not fix the problem. Many of Synaptics generic drivers do not work whatsoever.

There is another thread with numerous posts that cover this.

I'm sorry to break it down to you @dasjessy but it's not a driver's problem.. And even if it was Hp is not releasing another update fixing it..

I'm just gonna leave you with this.. If you like these specs that the m10 has just think about getting something even better and for free.. Because that's what you get one you send it back 2-3 times and then they else it.. They give you an i7, 8-16gb of ram, 1tb and best of all?? 100% functional touch pad..

I'm saying this because I had the same problem for 3 months, and I fixed it by installing non proprietary drivers. And it's been working fine for the past 6 months. The actual driver seem to not operate properly with Windows 8.1, and HP is not dumb to sell a faulty laptop. I'm a IT guy and I've been over the problem with HP repair stores so we figured out what was wrong. If I can point out, you'll notice that restarting the computer make it work for a while and after 20 min it start jumping again, one of the trick is to use the click button instead of taping, this help the driver to calibrate, seeing the easy it's been set up.

Try to install another operating system other than Windows and you'll see it working fine. I've been over this problem many times and I own 2 hp envy n012dx which came with the same problem

Ok under which OS has the problem been 100%solved for you?

I guess a solution would be to wait for Windows 10 and see if the upgrade fixes it. That could be a thing to try.

Actually I'm still using Windows 8.1 and will post the drivers I'm using as soon as I upload it. All the Linux OS work fine and hackintosh(If I may say) is even better and make feel you using a real Mac. We shall see how Windows 10 will interact with this. Another turnaround is to look at control zone settings, make sure you disable the edge swipe, set the filter activation time to zero under smart sense, and disable tapping as well. It does not totally fix it but will work 80% fine

There is a windows 10 preview out now that someone could try.

I don't disagree that the drivers are part of the problem. There are some people's laptops that are working fine with the stock driver. But there are a handful of us whom it doesn't work for. I'm in IT also and i spent a lotttt of time troubleshooting this issue. I forget if I tried installing windows 7 on the laptop but installing windows 7 was not something I considered "solving" the issue.

Dasjessy pm a link to the drivers when you upload would like to see if that fixes the issues.

the windows 10 preview is actually very buggy, and cannot be considered as an option. it's just a way for windows insider to test and provide feedback as a part of the incremental development process. Let's wait for a stable final release that could be probably announced later in april during the microsoft build conference

Like I said I had this problem on my two laptop for 3 month and managed to fix it. had to break up the code to see how the calibrating works and found a lot of mistakes (Disclosure). will post the working driver in a while --> Again it's not a proprietary driver and you will not have all the control zone options
