Hello HP Comunity, i need your help.

I'm a technician and have some issues with a laptop of a friend.

Sometimes, the laptop just doesn't turn on. The Caps look, power and wireless leds blinks for a second and then go off.

In other moments the laptop turns on but the Caps look led blinks many times but slowly, like a second on, a second off, and so on.

And, if i'm lucky, the laptop turns on, and windows load, but a cuple of minutes later, suddenly, shuts down.

I've already try with another ram module, without the hard drive, unpluging the cmos battery, and the combinations of keys to reset cmos, reset bios and the procedure for a hard reset for laptops with battery removed.

Nothing seems to work.

What else can i check/do? It's a great computer, i hope it's still alive.

I understand your concerns.

In that case, I would suggets you contact our phone support and check for the support option. They will help you.

If the product not under warranty there will be a charge for the support.

Here is how you can get in touch with phone support.

1)Click on this link - www.hp.com/contacthp/

2)Select the product type.

3)Enter the serial number of your device or select let HP detect your product option.

4)Select the country from the drop-down.

5)You should see the HP phone support number or Chat option listed.

We are experiencing longer than expected wait times to reach an agent due to the CoViD-19 impact and there might have been issues in you getting the expected resolution on the issue.

Have a nice day!!

@Mejía Welcome to HP Community!

I understand that the laptop will not turn on.

Please perform the below steps on the computer to run a System Test

- Shut down/Turn off the computer

- Once the computer is completely Shut down/Turned off

- Now press the power button once to turn on the computer and immediately start pressing/tapping the F2 key on the keyboard

- This should open the UEFI Diagnostic screen on the computer

- Please select System Test and then select Extensive Test

Try updating the computer, this will install the latest updates -

Step 1 Windows Updates -

1) In the search box, type, and open Windows Updates.

2) Check for updates.

3) If the updates are available, click on install and restart the computer.

Step 2 Install updates using HP Support Assistant

  1. In the search box, type, and open HP Support Assistant.
  2. Check for updates.

Hello , first, thanks por your help.

Now, i will clear out. maybe i didn't explain the case as i should.

           *  you: I understand that the laptop will not turn on.

me: sometimes it does, but shuts down a cuple of minutes later.

           * you: run a System Test

me: the computer shuts down before it begins or doesn't turns on

          * you: Try updating the computer

Install updates using HP Support Assistant

me: the computer shuts down, or the caps lock led just stay blinking with black screen, or just try to turn on,   but         inmediatly shuts down.

I've changed the memory module, but the errors persist. I've disconect the cmos battery, and same errors...

There's anything else that i can try?
