HP 250 G5 Laptop
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I would like to replace the factory installed win 10 OS with win 7 operating system, is this possible.

My first attempt resulted in some elements not working, usb and internet connection among them?

I am awaiting delivery of new recovery cds as the recovery partion was deleted during my abortive attempt described above.

The HP website advises that this model will work with both win 7 and 10 .

Hi:

I would think that W7 should work just fine with that model.

If you need the USB and ethernet drivers, these should work...

USB:  Download, unzip and run the setup application from the link below.

Ethernet:  Download, unzip and run the 1st file listed at the link below...

I seem to be getting conflicting info from HP Tech support ?

They have informed me that my notebook (HP 250 G5) is ok for the installation of win 7 and to that end they kindly sent my a set of 3 recovery disks (win7) and a driver recovery cd.

Almost at the end of the installation I got the following messge:

Component:  Windows Preinstall diagnostic tool- TDC

Timing Factory update

error: OsskuFlag is not 2

error: action not allowed

Please reset your feature byte to Oskuflag

Component:  Windows Preinstall diagnostic tool- TDC

error: action not allowed

Timing Factory update

error: Home Premium is EOL

error: action not allowed

Please reset your feature byte for windows configeration

On reverting to HP support I was informed that the note book is not for use with Win 7  but I should try again and that the driver recovery disk should sort out any issues..it didn't  and I now have a notebook with no operating system or recovery partition.

Not sure why I was sent the Win 7 disks if they are incompatable with the notebook

Am getting increasingly frustrated and contemplating asking for a refund or replacement

cheers

Hi:

Unfortunately, I wouldn't know why the recovery disks don't work.

You can clean install W7 like you did before, and use the drivers from the support page.

If you need any help finding W7 drivers, just let me know, and I will see what I can do to help.

I do not work for or represent HP, so there is nothing else I can do for you beyond the assistance I have offered to date.

You're very welcome.

OK, so you can't install W7 because you are getting the required CD/DVD driver is missing error?

See if this works...

I have zipped up and attached the amd usb 3 drivers that W7 may be looking for, below.

Download and unzip the file to its folder.

Then get a usb flash drive and copy the file contents in that folder to the flash drive.  Just the files, not the folder.

Plug the flash drive in a usb port, have the W7 installation DVD in the drive.

Turn on the PC and boot from the W7 disk.

After you select the Install now option, select the Drive Options - Advanced menu, then select the Load Driver option.

You should now see the storage driver files listed.

If you check the box, it will only include the compatible driver.

Follow the prompts and hopefully, W7 will install.

Anytime, Boris.

Hopefully that will do the trick.

Get a fresh start on it in the morning, and when I wake up tomorrow, hopefully you will have W7 installed, and we can proceed from there.
