on the screen it says 'configuring windows updates 74% complete' - It has been stuck on this screen for 3 days.

Let me take a moment to thank you for posting on the HP Support Forums. 

 

I understand that you have an HP Notebook - 15-ac106na. I read that the laptop for the last 3 days is stuck on 'configuring windows updates 74% complete'. Not worry, I'll do my best to help you. 

 

The Windows updates should not take this long. So it looks like the updates have failed. 

 

To provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details: 

  • Have you tried to abort the updates and checked?
  • Did you restart the laptop and check fi that helps.

 

I recommend you to perform the following steps to isolate the issue and arrive at a fix:

  • Installing updates using Windows Update.
