my HP ENVY laptop i turned off yesterday by "sleep".   when I tried to turn on today nothing happens.  the computer is plugged in with the charger and the little light at the power plug is white showing power is coming into the computer.  but it simply does not turn on

1.  I unplugged charger, and held the power button  down for 1 minute to completely turn off.

2. then tried to start again.  nothing happens.

3.  i tried charging for 30 minutes then tried to turn on but nothing happens.

any thing else i can try?

Hi @Mr_GoNow

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query.

I understand that your HP ENVY laptop is not powering on, even though the charging light near the power port is lights up. Since you have already performed a hard reset and attempted to charge the device, please try the following steps:

1. Check for Any Signs of Power

  • Press the Power button once.
  • Observe whether:
    • The Caps Lock key light blinks.
    • The Power button LED turns on.
    • The cooling fan starts spinning.
    • You hear any beeps or startup sounds.

2. Perform Another Hard Reset

  • Disconnect the charger and all external devices (USB drives, docking stations, printers, etc.).
  • Press and hold the Power button for 30 seconds.
  • Reconnect only the HP charger directly to a wall outlet.
  • Press the Power button once and check if the laptop starts.

3. Attempt to Access HP Startup Menu

  • Press the Power button.
  • Immediately and repeatedly tap the Esc key (about once every second) for 10–15 seconds.
  • If the Startup Menu appears, press F2 to run HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.

4. Test the Display

The notebook may be powering on with no display output.

  • Increase the screen brightness using the keyboard brightness keys.
  • If available, connect the laptop to an external monitor or TV using HDMI and check for display output.
