I manage an Assistive Technology Center in NC where individuals can use and borrow assistive devices, like laptops. Just received a donated HP G60 that has wiped clean, including the OS. NO software provided. Please advise how to proceed with new / re-install Windows OS for this unit. Thanks so much and I await your reply, paul

It is likely licensed for Windows 7. HP no longer has restore disks in stock. As the license is only for an OEM copy of Windows you cannot download a copy from Microsoft; only the retail version is available for download.
Is there a legible Key Code on the bottom? Windows 7 still requires a Key Code to activate the installation even if you find an OEM copy of the OS to install.
Otherwise unfortunately your options are to install a free OS (Linux) or purchase a copy of Windows which I would think a charitable organization could get for very little if any money. I also understand that Microsoft makes a version of Windows 10 for people who need assistive technology such as sight impaired individuals, available for a free download.
If you can send me a PM, since you are a charitable organization, I will go beyond normal measures. I do have an OEM Windows 7 disk for example but it will be of no use to you without a legible Key Code.

Hi Pogo824,
Looks like the unit was completely reset of any previous data before donating it to your organisation.
Could you please help us with the complete Model Name and Product Number to have a check from our end.
Since you are in NC , have you contacted the HP Customer Support Number.
We also suggest you consult with Microsoft with regards to the OS for the unit.

I did not need you to post the Key just confirm it is legible. The key itself is considered private and if somebody else grabs it and uses it you might not be able to get it activated so please edit your post to remove it.
If you will send me a PM I can try to make arrangements to have an .iso of an OEM Vista disk made available to you to download and it will allow you to enter that Key Code and at least get Vista up and running on that machine. Drivers can be found here in this website.
Unfortunately a Vista install cannot be upgraded to Windows 10 but I think you are better off not having Windows 10 on that machine.

A private messaging app is built into the Forum front end. I will send you one. The little envelope icon in the upper right of the page will turn blue and have a 1 next to it. Open it and you can reply to me.
