Hi @Lizt3

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand how frustrating it must feel when your mouse refuses to respond, especially when you’ve already tried steps on your own.

Thank you for the effort you’ve put in so far—let’s walk through a clear set of actions together to bring back that smooth, responsive control.

Step 1: Check the basics

  • If you’re using a wired mouse, ensure it’s firmly connected to a USB port. Try another port to rule out a loose or faulty connection.
  • If it’s a wireless mouse, replace or recharge the batteries and confirm the USB receiver is securely plugged in.

Step 2: Test the mouse on another device

  • Connect the mouse to a different computer. If it works there, the issue is likely with the laptop settings or drivers.

Step 3: Verify Windows settings

  1. Press Windows + I to open Settings.
  2. Go to Devices > Mouse.
  3. Ensure the primary button and pointer speed are set correctly.
  4. If using a touchpad, check Touchpad settings to confirm it isn’t disabled.

Step 4: Update or reinstall drivers

  1. Right-click the Start button and select Device Manager.
  2. Expand Mice and other pointing devices.
  3. Right-click your mouse driver and choose Update driver.
  4. If updating doesn’t help, select Uninstall device, then restart your laptop. Windows will reinstall the driver automatically.

Step 5: Run HP’s Diagnose & Fix tool

HP provides a built-in tool that scans for hardware and driver issues.

  • Open the HP Support Assistant (preinstalled on your Pavilion x360).
  • Select Troubleshooting and fixes > Diagnose & Fix.
  • Follow the guided steps to resolve detected problems.

Step 6: Windows updates

  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
  • Install any pending updates, as they often include driver improvements.

Step 7: Touchpad vs. external mouse

  • If the touchpad works but the external mouse doesn’t, focus on USB ports and drivers.
  • If neither works, it may point to a deeper driver or hardware conflict, which Diagnose & Fix can highlight.

With these steps, you should feel the mouse spring back into action, restoring that effortless glide across your screen.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
