hello everyone,
i have just replaced the battery of my notebook with another original hp battery, but it does not charge. I did tests with HP PC Hardware Diagnostic Windows and the result is : 

logical status OK

charging status NOT AVAILABLE.
Do you have any advice for me? Anything I can check?

Here are some steps to troubleshoot the issue with your new battery not charging on your HP ENVY X360 Convertible Laptop PC 15-Ed1000:

 

1. Verify Battery and Charger

  • Ensure the battery is properly connected: Double-check that the battery is securely connected to the laptop.
  • Check the charger: Make sure the charger is working correctly by testing it with another HP laptop if available.

2. Reset the Battery

Perform a battery reset to see if it resolves the issue:

  1. Shut down your laptop.
  2. Disconnect the charger and remove the battery.
  3. Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds to discharge any remaining power.
  4. Reinstall the battery and connect the charger.
  5. Turn on your laptop and check if the battery starts charging.

3. Update BIOS and Battery Drivers

Sometimes, updating the BIOS and battery drivers can resolve charging issues:

Update BIOS:

  • Go to the HP Support website and download the latest BIOS update for your model.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to install the BIOS update.

Update Battery Drivers:

  • Press Win + X and select Device Manager.
  • Expand the Batteries section.
  • Right-click on Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery and select Update driver.
  • Choose Search automatically for updated driver software.

4. Perform a Power Reset

  1. Shut down your laptop.
  2. Disconnect the charger and remove the battery.
  3. Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
  4. Reconnect the battery and charger.
  5. Turn on your laptop.

5. Check Windows Power Settings

Sometimes, Windows power settings can interfere with charging:

  1. Go to Settings > System > Power & sleep > Additional power settings.
  2. Click on Change plan settings for your current plan.
  3. Select Change advanced power settings.
  4. Expand the Battery section and ensure settings are correctly configured.

6. Test with HP PC Hardware Diagnostics

Run the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI to perform a more comprehensive battery test:

  1. Shut down your laptop.
  2. Turn on your laptop and immediately press the Esc key repeatedly until the Startup Menu appears.
  3. Press F2 to open the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI.
  4. Select Component Tests > Power > Battery and follow the on-screen instructions.

 

If the problem persists, there may be an issue with the battery connector or charging circuitry on the motherboard. In this case, it would be best to contact HP Support for further assistance or consider taking the laptop to an authorized repair center.
