15-ac119nl (Energy star)
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have to bring my notebook, model 15-ac119nl (Energy star), back to the factory configuration, but in the proposed options, after power on + F11, the "Factory reset" choice is missing. Note that the "D" disk contains an image of HP recovery. How should I proceed ?

Best regards

Hi
First:- Turn off the computer, press and hold the PWR button for 4 seconds.

Then - Leave only keyboard and mouse connected, disconnect all externally connected
devices such as Docking Station, USB storage devices, displays, and printers.
Unplug the AC adapter from the computer.

Next - Press and Hold the Power button for 15 seconds to Hard Reset.
Rinse and Repeat; Re-Connect the AC adapter.

NOW begin checking/testing/proving the Hardware is fit for purpose.
Power on your PC, press ESC (repeatedly), then F2 at the prompt.
Choose System Tests (Fast Test does a 4 minute hardware check).
AND/OR
HOW DO I USE DIAGNOSTICS?

HP PC Hardware Diagnostics Windows is a Windows-based utility that allows you to run diagnostic tests to determine if the computer hardware is functioning properly. The tool runs within the Windows operating system in order to diagnose hardware failures. HP PC Hardware Diagnostics Windows comes pre-installed on new HP computers, but if not on yours, download here:- http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp93001-93500/sp93457.exe

Hi,

I ran the Fast Test (it lasted 30 minutes) which did not detect hardware errors.
I did not understand how to proceed with the following indications:
"Next - Press and Hold the Power button for 15 seconds to Hard Reset. Rinse and Repeat; Re-Connect the AC adapter." because it starts Windows 10.

My problem is the following:
after pressing the power button and the F11 button immediately, the "troubleshooting" menu appears, showing only the following choices:
  - Reset the PC
  - Advanced options:
    - Restart on startup
    - Startup settings
    - Command prompt
    - Uninstall updates
    - UEFI firmware settings
    - System recovery
    - System image restore
The "Factory reset" choice is missing !! This is the problem.

Thanks for your suggestions.

Hi

Factory  Fresh is likely to be one of these...

 - Reset the PC

- System image restore

which is why the hardware test was run to ensure the HDD was capable of such a thing.

From 2016 onwards there is a possible recovery option via the cloud...
HP Consumer PCs - Using the HP Cloud Recovery Tool (Windows 7 & 10)
https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c06162205
OR
Turn on the computer and repeatedly press the F11 key, about once every second,
until the Choose an option screen is displayed, and then continue.

On the Choose an Option screen, click Troubleshoot, and work your way through the screens.

Obviously if you are installing a copy of W10 pre 1903 then it is likely that you will then spend many more hours waiting for updates to finish.  You can of course start here...

and add in whatever HP software you need later.
