Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit)

I am helping a friend whose laptop recently died.  Basically the laptop switches on and stays at the initial blue screen,  the hard disk is dead. (run rhe disk test  which failed)

The first question I had is : how can I find out which operating system it was running (32 or 64 bits). the label with the product key says: windows 7 home prem OA .

My frind does not have a recovery disk.

I have ordered a new hitachi 2.5" replacement disk.

I tried to get an ISO file from Microsoft but when I entered the product key, it told me that I had to get it from the manufacturer instead. I could not find where I could get an ISO file from the HP support site.

I managed to download a 32bit and 64 bit ISO files from heidoc.net (windows 7 sp1 COEM)

I am waiting for the hard disk to arrive. In the meantime, I went to the HP support site to look for drivers for this laptop and the only response: there is none for this product!

thanks for any help.

Hi,

Your laptop came with Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit

http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02803241

The product key in COA sticker will activate both 32 bit and 64 bit.

You're in right path regarding heidoc. Follow Paul Tikkanen's suggestion in here: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Operating-System-and-Recovery/want-windows-7-back/td-p/592555...

Clean install: https://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/219487-clean-reinstall-factory-oem-windows-7-a.html

Additional drivers from here:

Thank you very much Visruth for your quick response.

32 or 64 bits:

Excellent, now  that I know, I will burn the 64 bit version of the ISO file I downloaded from heidoc.

Additional drivers:

I have been there : if you enter windows 7 64 bits: it says : no software or driver for that product!!

I will read the other points in detail now.

Thanks again for your help

You're welcome.

I don't know why you're not getting the drivers. I'm able to see and download all the Windows 7 64 bit drivers at my end.

Thank you visruth. I was confused as I only saw the options Change and cancel , no download option at first.

I pressed change ? which opened the list of drivers.

Thanks again. Maybe this page could be abit more explicit.
