I reset my laptop with a restore point and when it came up again no documents or photos were showing in my desktop. Instead I got a pop up saying "The application cannot be started. Try reinstalling the application,,," I assume this means the HP command center. The pop up mentions this file "DesktopExtension, exe

Hi @Shalom192

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you need to reinstall the HP Command Center after your system restore. Here’s how you can do that:

Uninstall the Current Version:

  • Open Settings by pressing Windows + I.
  • Go to Apps > Apps & features.
  • Find HP Command Center in the list, click on it, and select Uninstall.

Download the Latest Version:

  • Go to the HP Support website.
  • Enter your laptop's model number in the search box.
  • Navigate to the Software and Drivers section.
  • Find the HP Command Center software and download the latest version compatible with your system.

Install the Software:

  • Once the download is complete, open the installer and follow the on-screen instructions to install the application.

Restart Your Laptop:

  • After installation, restart your laptop to ensure everything is set up correctly.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
