Envy x360 15-bq051nr
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I just received my new Envy x360 yesterday. after setting it up and using it all day, it ran fine and quiet.  this morning HP support assistant notified me of updates and messages. there were 3 updates, 1 was a BIOS update, 2nd was a bluetooth, and cant remember 3rd but think it had to do with realtek.  Anyway, today, my fan is either on screaming 4 or howling 5  speeds. yesterday the fan was quiet with a slight whirr 2 to below screaming 3 while installing things, streaming video etc, nothing like today.  HP cool sense is toggled on.  the laptop is sitting on a curved cooling pad.  the fan runs even there's nothing on the desktop open.  Would upgrading the BIOS cause this symptom?? again yesterday the laptop ran just fine.  today it is blowing hot air out the back port.  Any way to roll it back?  Anything else to check? thanks for any suggestions.

Hello @rhsortho,

Welcome to the HP Forums.

I would be happy to help you with your Envy x360 15-bq051nr.

I understand you have updated your Envy x360 from HP support assistant which was notified.

I recommend you to follow the below steps to resolve the issue.

BIOS Update issues

Start with a hard reset to release any excessive static on the PC:

  • If Windows is open, click Start and then Shutdown.
  • If Windows is not open and the computer has power, press and hold the power button on the computer until the computer shuts off.
  • With the power off, disconnect the power cord from the back of the computer.
  • With the power off and the power cord disconnected, press the power button on the computer for 5 seconds. The power light indicator on or near the power button might turn on briefly but then go out.
  • Reconnect the power cord and turn on the power.

Attempt to reset or recover the existing BIOS (if the recent update was interrupted): Click here
