short drive self test failure

Hi,

I run the  the hardware diagnostics in my laptop to check the errors.Then I found short drive self-test failed error with id 6C1XNW-8BE9PA-MFPX6J-60UU13

I read some answers about this error in hp support community,in that they said we need to replace hdd.

Is there any other solution to fix this error ,other than replacing of hdd.

If I want to replace how much will it cost. I am from Hyderabad india.

BACKUP save all your important data before the failure occurs.

MAKE create a USB repair/recovery/rebuild/re-install stick.

Costs I don't know, it depends on whether you read thru the manuals and decide to carry out some of the steps yourself.

I checked the code and unfortunately there is no other way to fix the problem other than replacing the faulty component with a new one (like new disk).

• The hard disk drive (HDD) has failed.  Since this is faulty HDD/hardware component, you will probably not be able to recover your files. If you want to attempt data recovery, please let me know and I may post additional instructions.

• The PC is out of warranty, you will need to buy and replace the disk on your own

You can buy HDD or SSD from online or local tech stores, and replace it on your own or contact HP Authorized Service center for assistance.

The price varies depending on the capacity and vendor. You can check Amazon India for Internal Hard Disk Drives (SATA)

Last part - once you replace the faulty HDD component - you will need to reinstall back your operating system
