yes, I confirm that I explained everything to the agent who contacted me. This time the service seemed very capable. The agent's English was perfectly fine and we went over it in an extensive phone call. In the end however he confirmed that this is intended behavior. BIOS settings or OS settings can't change this in my testing either.

In Windows I could even live with it -- even though I'd still be a bit disappointed. In my OS of choice, Linux, this is causing major issues though. Having said that: I do know that Linux is unsupported. Also I found more reports on this and it seems that this is an AMD problem and not so much an HP one (other vendors' laptops seems to have this as well -- at least when it comes to Linux, I did not do any digging about Windows.).

I have reinstalled a non-branded Windows so I would have to reinstall HP software to run your proposed tests. I might do that in a few days or so but since this is confirmed to be intended behavior I do not expect the tests to find anything unusual. Either way, thanks.

@SFGNDGN I appreciate the update, that said, I suggest you run the tests anyway, if this turns out to be a hardware issue, though the agent has informed you otherwise, we may have an option to get the device repaired, if not, like you said, we'll have to just live with it.

take your time and get back to us with the results.

Good luck!
