Hi @kakar_

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

That message can be really concerning—especially when your laptop shuts off unexpectedly. It usually means the battery has degraded to the point where it can no longer hold a reliable charge. But don’t worry, there are a few steps you can take to confirm the issue and explore your options:

🔋 Step 1: Run HP Battery Check

If you haven’t already:

  1. Open HP Support Assistant (preinstalled on most HP laptops).
  2. Go to Battery > Battery Check.
  3. Review the results—it will confirm if the battery needs replacement.

If you don’t have HP Support Assistant, you can download it from the HP Support site.

🔌 Step 2: Perform a Hard Reset

This helps clear any power-related glitches:

  1. Shut down the laptop.
  2. Unplug the charger and remove any external devices.
  3. Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
  4. Plug the charger back in and try powering on.

⚙️ Step 3: Check Power Settings

  1. Go to Control Panel > Power Options.
  2. Click Change plan settings > Change advanced power settings.
  3. Under Battery, make sure the system isn’t set to shut down too early (e.g., at 10–20%).

🛠 Step 4: Consider Battery Replacement

If the battery check confirms low capacity, replacing it is the most reliable fix. HP-authorized service centers can help with genuine parts and installation.

In the meantime, you can continue using the laptop while plugged in, but it’s best to avoid relying on the battery until it’s replaced.

You're doing the right thing by looking into this early!
