Hi @vedkamboj94

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Let’s dig into this together and get your fingerprint setup running smoothly. 🧠💻 To help pinpoint what’s holding things up, could you share a few quick details?

🧭 Let’s Get Oriented

  • Exact HP laptop model: (e.g., HP Pavilion 15-eg1000TU, Spectre x360, etc.)
  • Operating system version: Windows 11 Home or Pro? Is it fully updated?
  • What happens when you try to set up fingerprint login? Does the option appear in Settings, or is it missing entirely?
  • Any error messages you’ve seen? (e.g., “No fingerprint reader detected,” “Enrollment failed,” etc.)
  • Is the fingerprint reader visible in Device Manager under “Biometric Devices”? Or does it show a warning icon?
  • Have you tried installing or updating the HP Validity Sensor or Synaptics WBF driver?
  • Are you using HP Support Assistant to manage drivers and system health?

Once I have this info, I’ll tailor a step-by-step fix just for your setup. We’ll get that sensor working, and you’ll be logging in with a touch in no time. 🖐

While we sort through your specific setup, here’s a general checklist to help you configure fingerprint login on most HP laptops running Windows 11:

🧰 Generic Steps to Set Up Fingerprint Recognition

1. Check for the Fingerprint Sensor

  • Make sure your HP laptop model actually has a fingerprint reader—usually located near the touchpad or integrated into the power button.
  • If you're unsure, check the device specs on HP’s website using your model number.

2. Install or Update the Fingerprint Driver

  • Open HP Support Assistant and scan for updates.
  • Or go to Device Manager > Biometric Devices and check for entries like:
    • Synaptics WBF Fingerprint Reader
    • Validity Sensors

If nothing shows up, expand Other Devices to check for “Unknown Device” that might be the reader.

3. Enable Windows Hello Fingerprint

  • Go to Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options.
  • Under Fingerprint Recognition (Windows Hello), click Set up.
  • Follow the prompts to scan your fingerprint multiple times.

4. Run the Troubleshooter

  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters.
  • Run the Hardware and Devices or Windows Hello troubleshooter.

5. Check Windows Updates

  • Make sure your OS is fully updated—fingerprint functionality depends on compatible platform and security drivers.

If any step doesn’t work or the fingerprint option is missing, let me know what you're seeing and I’ll help tailor the fix. You’re doing the right thing by tackling this early! 💪🖐

Take care, and have an amazing day!
