@Kagiso3, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Webcam Issues on HP PCs!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
If your webcam is not working after it was removed, follow these steps to troubleshoot and repair your webcam:
Check the Webcam Privacy Settings
Certain HP notebooks, monitors, and All-in-One computers come with a webcam privacy switch or webcam shutter key that turns the webcam off and on. Ensure that these settings are correctly configured.
- Locate and toggle the webcam privacy switch or press the webcam shutter key.
- Webcam privacy switch: Located on either the right or left side of your computer or next to the camera.
- Webcam shutter key: Located on the action key row of your keyboard.
Restart the Computer
Sometimes, simply restarting the computer can correct the problem. Restart the computer and then try using the webcam.
Verify Webcam Access Settings
Ensure that your app can access the webcam, using the procedure for your operating system.
Windows 11:
- Right-click the Start button and click Settings > Privacy & Security > Camera.
- Set the Camera access section to On.
- Under Let apps access your camera, turn on the apps that should have access to the webcam.
Windows 10:
- Click Settings > Privacy > Camera from the Start menu.
- Choose the setting in the Allow apps to access your camera section.
- Set your preferred apps' access to On or Off.
Check Webcam Selection in Software
Ensure that your webcam is the selected video/capture device in the software you're using. The device name might show up as one of several possibilities like "USB Video Device," "HP Webcam," etc. Select the name until the video from your webcam is displayed.
Hope this helps!
Take care, and have an amazing day!
