I have recently purchased the above laptop with a view to producing and presenting slide shows using a sophisticated program used previously with Win xp and 7. The program downloads and installs normally.
On attempting to open the program, I am advised that file D3Dx9_41.dll is not found.
I have downloaded this file but my attempt to install it results in a "not compatible" response.
I believe that the slideshow program does not have a specifically Win 10 friendly version.
Any guidance regarding a way of satisfying the dll requirement would be appreciated.
Alternatively, I should be happy to downgrade to Win 7 if this is feasible and reasonably easy to achieve.
My thanks in anticipation of your time in looking at my problem.
Best regards Hugh Noble

Hi,
Sorry, as mentioned from the beginning Windows 10 and the software are not from HP.
Regards.

Hi,
What is the program ? Does it support Windows 10 ? Please check with the software vendor or you can go to its support site / forum to check.
Definitely something to do with two software: Windows (Microsoft) and that product (other vendor). Nothing to do with hardware (HP).
Regards.

Hi Banhien
Thanks for quick response. Program is Wings Platinum 4/5 from Stumpfl. I am finding great difficulty in getting information from Austria.
You are correct in seeing this as a software problem. However, the solution may be to downgrade to Windows 7 which I assume would then have hardware implications - hence the second part of my enquiry.

Hi,
The following forum may help (sorry I can't read them all). I think you need 5.7 or 5.8 up.
Regards.

Provost
Again, my thanks for your time and effort.
I had contacted Stumpfl Forum and completed an application to join but did not receive a reply. Perusal of the posts you refer to suggests that some people are using Win 10 successfully with Wings Platinum. I have again made contact with them and await their response. Problem not solved but hope has improved.
