win 10 installation in another device

my laptop get physically damaged and i can not start it , i have a inbuilt win 10 in it can i install it to another device? if yes then how? pls help?

Hi:

Unfortunately, that would not be possible.

The version of W10 that is installed in your notebook is OEM and cannot be transferred to another PC.

The product key only works on the PC it originally came with.

Thanks for reply , can you also tell me exactly which part is registered with it for example Hard disk or  motherboard.

actually i have another hp laptop can i use these components in it to enhance its performance.

You're very welcome.

The product key is inside the BIOS chip on the motherboard, and is pre-activated using the hardware configuration of that exact motherboard.

can you suggest me for future which is best practice, should i buy laptop with inbuilt win 10 or should i purchase win10 separately.can i use this separately bought win 10 to another laptop/computer in case of damage of the laptop on which it was first installed?

These are your options...

Buying a PC that already comes with W10 is cheaper than buying one without W10 that comes with FreeDOS and you then have to pay for a retail operating system.

It is cheaper because PC manufacturers pay much less for Windows than you or I do, because they buy tens of thousands of licenses each year to be installed on new PC's.  Naturally, they get a volume discount.

If you buy an OEM operating system, once again the key can only be used on that PC. 

Don't be deceived by the cheaper price of an OEM version of W10.

So if you want to be able to transfer the license/product key to a different PC, you have to buy a retail version of Windows 10.
