Hi @Tesfahun,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand you're seeing the error "Windows could not complete the installation. To install Windows on this computer, restart the installation" on your HP computer. It typically occurs during a Windows setup or reset process. Try the steps below to resolve this issue.

Recommended HP Steps:

  1. Start in Audit Mode:
    • When the error message appears, press Shift + F10 to open Command Prompt.
    • Type the following command and press Enter: cd C:\windows\system32\oobe
    • Then type: msoobe
    • This should launch the Windows setup screen. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

  2. Enable Administrator Account (if needed): If the above doesn’t work, try enabling the built-in Administrator account:
    • In the same Command Prompt window, type:
    • net user administrator /active: yes
    • Then restart your PC:
    • shutdown -r -t 00

  3. Use HP Cloud Recovery Tool (if installation fails repeatedly): If the issue persists, you may need to reinstall Windows using the HP Consumer PCs - Using the HP Cloud Recovery Tool in Windows 11 and 10 | HP® Support.

  4. Check BIOS Settings:
    • Restart your PC and enter BIOS (usually by pressing Esc or F10 during startup).
    • Ensure Secure Boot is enabled, and Legacy Support is disabled.

  5. Run HP Diagnostics:

I hope this helps.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
