windows has failed to start as a recent hardware or software change might be the cause how do i fix the problem

@carol1961mika, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

  • What is the exact model of HP Notebook you are using?
  • Which version of Win OS is installed?

Power reset the computer as mentioned in this document.

 

Try to boot into safe mode and check if that works. If yes, you may disable non-Microsoft services and restart the computer under "msconfig".

 

If the issue persists, we will have to perform a system recovery.

Kindly follow the steps mentioned in this document.
