So how do you go about a bug that has been logged 6+ months ago and renders virtually every of these Chromebook's touch screen entirely useless? These devices all work flawless out of the box, but after setting them up and rebooting them, all of them will be broken indefinitely. Switching software channels doesn't help, all of them exhibit this issue.
[edit]
HP apparently isn't interested. I don't want to know how many people will return these devices as defective. Seems like a simple software fix would solve this, but if HP hasn't managed to fix it in the 6+ months, I'm not sure what to think. Return it? Wait? I haven't been able to find an acceptable work-around to downgrade and stay on a particular ChromeOS version, as apparently there is no way to disable auto-updates. I have the same issue on 2 HP chromebooks (same model as OP) I just purchased. Works during setup but right after shutting off and then back on the touchscreen is reversed. Touch link on top, touchscreen responds to the bottom link. Very frustrated and disappointed. Will return soon and buy another brand if no solutions within the return period.

@rookeez
Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.
Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, If your touchscreen isn't working, try these steps. Test after each step to see whether your touchscreen works.
- Wipe off any dust or dirt on your touchscreen.
- Reset your Chromebook hardware.
- Reset your Chromebook to factory settings.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
