Hello , I need help as I have accidentally deleted the items that was in the HP_Tools E: drive folder. It is now currently empty and named just E: drive. Was the BIOS in the folder? I have quite an old laptop, bought it in 2011. Anyway, is there any way to recover these files? I looked at the downloads page for my product and I downloaded two HPSupportSolutions Framework 12 files but thus far nothing. I am not sure where the BIOS is. Please help!

Hello @Moongrl

Welcome to the HP Support forum.

The HP Tools partition does not contain critical information - it may have information about UEFI hardware diagnostics and this partition may be used during BIOS updates. Without the UEFI hardware diagnostics, the BIOS will offer you only basic diagnostics such as HDD and RAM tests.

Your PC originally comes with Windows 7 preinstalled and above you selected you use Windows 10

If you demand (want) to attempt to reinstall HP Tools, you can visit this URL >> https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-pavilion-dm1-3000-entertainment-notebook-pc-seri...

and select your Windows version, under BIOS-Tools download the .exe file and run it

However, note that this is for Windows 7 and not tested for Windows 10 - it might not work under Windows 10.

If I were you, I would just leave it like it is now 🙂

Hello, thanks very much for your reply and assistance. I followed your instructions and downloaded the .exe file. Even though, I am currently on Windows 10, I ran it and it installed the BIOS folders on the E: drive. It seems to be in working order. Thanks again!!!!
