Accuracy of My Laptops Find My Device feature

I have a HP Pavilion 2yr old Notebook. When I try to use Find My Device the location is up to a km out, shows a detailed street map but does not seem to use a GPS for accuracy. Maybe it is not GPS based in which case it us  useless! Any ideas? 

Location in Settings simple says enable or not, no reference to a GPS

What is it ? Your machine does not have built-in GPS, it uses the next available of a wifi station near you. For example you live on Oakleigh VIC and the next wifi station can be at Waverley VIC therefore it may work out somewhere in between. For NBN, it may use a node.

but I just discovered this, I don't know, but it could be interesting to share, if the computer is compatible, obviously, it could be very useful in case of theft
