It's embarrassing that HP can't manage to simply inform customers about something like this.

It's a very simple solution once you know about it.

 

I contacted support through every channel—email, phone, and chat—but I was just given the runaround.

 

Finally, I got through to sales chat and was transferred to after-sales chat twice. On my second attempt, an employee finally gave me the link.

Did you try the link in the answers posted with the 34 digit code HP sent you? Worked for me back in October

Try the same link without the "HP-" and paste your code onto the end of it
