How to enable advanced mode in BIOS F.05 (this is the latest version of BIOS)?
I need this mode to fix the problem with the RAM, and more specifically with the fact that I have 2.1 GB of hardware reserved.
2.1 GB is a lot considering that the total RAM is 8 GB.

I hope you can help me enable advanced mode in this BIOS (if it is possible, of course).

Thanks you.

@BredWud Welcome to HP Community!

I understand that you would like to enable advance mode.

HP has locked a few settings on your computer which are being managed by the system configuration as the device is configured to its optimal performance.

There's no way of resetting or changing these locked settings via HP articles or assistance,

You could unlock and make changes at your own discretion using 3rd party tools, however, HP doesn't recommend the same nor has information about the tools used.

I hope you understand.

Thank you for your reply. I know that this mode is hidden for a reason, but when a laptop uses 5.9 GB instead of all 8 GB of RAM, it does not comfort me and I want to fix it. 2.1 GB is just idle reserved by hardware, I would like to use the device to the fullest using everything it can do.

@BredWud

I understand your concerns.

Please perform the below steps on the computer to run a System Test

- Shut down/Turn off the computer

- Once the computer is completely Shut down/Turned off

- Now press the power button once to turn on the computer and immediately start pressing/tapping the F2 key on the keyboard

- This should open the UEFI Diagnostic screen on the computer

- Please select System Test and then select extensive Test

If the test fail, please contact our phone supports and check for the support option. They will help you.

Here is how you can get in touch with phone support.

1)Click on this link - www.hp.com/contacthp/

2)Select the product type.

3)Enter the serial number of your device or select let HP detect your product option.

4)Select the country from the drop-down.

5)You should see the HP phone support number or Chat option listed.

We are experiencing longer than expected wait times to reach an agent due to the CoViD-19 impact and there might have been issues in you getting the expected resolution on the issue.

According to your recommendations, I turned off the laptop and pressed F2 at startup. There was no extended test, only the following items: Processor, Memory test, Storage tests, Hard drive test, Battery test, System Board test.

Passed all the tests, but there were no comments other than the initial problem with the RAM. There were no fixes with RAM.

I also discovered just now that this laptop has a backlight, but how to turn it on is not described. There is no button or icon (three dots) on the function keys. Various combinations with function keys + fn do not help.

I have attached pictures of the System Board test and memory test. You can make sure that only 5.96 GB of 8 GB is being used.

It looks like the problem with RAM is not a problem at all if you believe this official post https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c06526774. However, the HP should warn the buyer that he will have about 6 GB, not 8 GB. This really pisses me off, should I care as a customer that 2.1 GB is reserved? No, I bought this laptop with 8GB of RAM.

I hope at least there are no such problems with the backlight, they say, "We installed it, but you can't turn it on like that."

I understand your concerns.

This is by design. AMD reserves some memory capacity in order to support the Microsoft PlayReady feature.

note:

The available amount of memory will vary depending the amount of physical memory installed in the computer.

Please refer to the below link to HP Consumer Laptop and Desktop PCs - Available System Memory Is Lower Than the Physical Memory Installed
