Hp 15- Bw084ax
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have an HP 15-BW084AX laptop.

It's an amd processor with a10-9620p APU, With a 2Gb ddr3 discreet graphics card amd Radeon 535dx.

I recently updated my gpu drivers using the hp site, and ever since my graphics card is being identified as a r7 m340 instead. I did update the driver again by checking updates in the amd control panel. Still the same.

I am however able to play games and according to monitoring tools, the gpu is indeed working. But I am facing a significant fps drop in games. Not sure if this is the reason.

Can anyone help me understand what's going on?

Okay, i found the answer to this on the amd forums.

Apparently amd rebrands its gpu like crazy. so it seems the r7 m340 driver which i have right now is working for multiple gpus from amd..
So i have installed the right driver, and also i had to only install one single driver for both.

And the fps drop was actually not because of improper driver but I had a malware eating up my cpu and ram usage.

hope this research would be helpful for someone other than me 🙂
