Greetings,

I apologize if I have  this in the incorrect forum. If so, I would greatly appreciate it if someone could please post in the correct forum.

I was a Network Administrator for 43 years: Lockheed, Raytheon and Qualcomm. HP Servers were and likely are still bullet proof. I am now retired...43 years was enough fun <grin>

In any event I have an HP Laptop (HP Laptop  14-fq0110wm (5Z7Y9UA), Product number: 5Z7Y9UA) and went to run some extensive memory tests (Esc --> F2--Scroll down). At the top of the diagnostics page was a notification stating the diagnostics were out of date and to go to a URL that was as long a my arm. None the less I went there and that URL resolved to 'SHOP HP''. I double checked the URL and it had it accurate.

Does anyone know where I can obtain the updated Diags? The BIOS is up to date.

Any assistance greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,

Lyman

Hi @LGLDSR71

When you see the “diagnostics out of date” message on HP laptops, it usually means the UEFI Hardware Diagnostics tool embedded in the BIOS needs to be updated. HP provides the latest version through their HP PC Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI) utility.

You can download and update it as follows:

🔹 Option 1: Update directly from HP’s site

  1. Go to the official HP support page:

  2. Under “HP PC Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI)”, select Download for Windows (or USB, if you prefer to run it offline).

  3. Run the installer — it will update the diagnostics on your system or create a bootable USB with the latest version.

🔹 Option 2: Use HP Support Assistant

If you have HP Support Assistant installed, open it and check for updates — it will automatically update system diagnostics if a newer version is available.

🔹 Notes

  • The URL shown in BIOS (that redirects to HP’s shop page) is a known issue in some builds; HP has changed its site structure, so the embedded link no longer resolves correctly.

  • The latest HP UEFI Diagnostics version (as of 2025) is version 10.0.0.0+, which supports all modern HP consumer and business notebooks.

After installing, you can verify by restarting → pressing Esc → F2 → confirming the diagnostics version at the top of the screen.
