Hello all,
I'm am trying to update my BIOS on my 2009 HP DV7 3065DX.
Back story.I bought this laptop brand new in 2009. Lasted until my HDD crashed in 2017. My laptop has been collecting dust until yesterday. i got a 1TB SSD and doubled up on RAM with 8GB.
Long story short.I got windows 10 installed any everything is running smooth. just want to know if i can update the BIOS. still got the original from 2009., is this possible?

Hi:
You would only be able to update the BIOS if you were running W7.
If everything is running fine, I would leave well enough alone.
Below are the links to the last BIOS update that was released for your notebook.
Info File: F.13 February 23, 2010
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp47501-48000/sp47531.html
Exe file:
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp47501-48000/sp47531.exe
Most likely if you try to update the BIOS when running W10, you will wreck a perfectly good working notebook, and you won't be able to recover it.

Copy that!!
To get windows 10 installed I had to install windows 7 first because it wouldn’t recognize the win10 boot cd. Couldn’t change my BIOS to boot from the USB. So I had to go old school. But after I got win7 installed I just updated to win10.
