Hi @Kubu1,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I can see from your photo that your HP laptop is stuck at the HP logo with the message: “Press the ESC key for Startup Menu” This usually means the system is frozen in POST / BIOS initialization, and the BIOS is not moving forward.

Don’t worry, we can bring it back. I’ll guide you through the exact HP‑recommended steps, in the right order. You did the right thing by reaching out.

STEP 1: Try to open the Startup Menu (Force BIOS to respond)

Press the keys repeatedly, not holding them:

Try these:

1. Tap ESC repeatedly

→ Does the Startup Menu appear?

If YES:
Choose F9 (Boot Device Options) or F10 (BIOS Setup) → laptop should proceed.

If NO, continue.

STEP 2: Perform a HARD RESET (HP recommended)

This clears any stuck hardware state.

If the battery is non‑removable:

  1. Turn off the laptop
  2. Disconnect charger
  3. Press and hold the Power button for 20 seconds
  4. Connect charger
  5. Turn it on

Watch if the HP logo now moves forward.

STEP 3:Check if BIOS is stuck because of a device

Disconnect EVERYTHING:

  • USB drives, Mouse, Keyboard, Printer, External HDD, SD card, HDMI cable

Now power it on again.

A faulty accessory can freeze BIOS at the HP logo.

STEP 4: Force BIOS Recovery

HP laptops have a built‑in BIOS recovery system.

Do this:

  1. Turn off the laptop
  2. Hold Windows key + B
  3. While holding, press the Power button for 2–3 seconds
  4. Release Power, keep holding Win + B

If successful, you will hear:

  • long beeps
  • or see HP BIOS Recovery Screen

If this appears, choose: ✔️ Recover BIOS

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
