Hi
I have been uploading the updates from the HP support Assistant. 3 driver updates installed fine, but the the BIOS update for Intel processors has just been on the go all day. It seemed to download ok, the blue bar filled and it said it was installing, but never completed as I have had to stop it to go to bed.
How long should it take to install? HP notebook 15-ac176na.
Thanks
Paul

Hi Paul,
There appears to be a version listed between your current one and the update being offered - F.1E Rev.A ( provides the update CPU microcode ) - HP bios updates are nearly always cumulative, however I've seen a few occassions when it has to bbe done sequentially, so it may be worth seeing if F.1E Rev.A will flash correctly - if it does, try running F.1F Rev.A again
F.1E Rev.A is on the following link
http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp74001-74500/sp74374.exe
When the download has completed, close any other open windows and programs, then open your Downloads folder and double-tap the installer to start the process. The actual flash will occur when the machine restarts - do not interrupt this in any way, even if nothing appears to be happening for a while - when it has completed, the machine will load into Windows as usual.

Hi Paul,
It should only take a couple of minutes before prompting for a reboot.
If you're running the update through HPSA, you should see an option to Cancel/Stop - select this.
Click the i icon on the installerpackage and make a note of the SoftPaq No, ( this will be in the form spxxxxx ).
If it is sp74599, then try the following - if it's not, let me know the SoftPaq No.
Close HPSA, then download the Bios Update from the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.
http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp74501-75000/sp74599.exe
When the download has completed, close any other open windows and programs, then open your Downloads folder and double-tap the installer to start the process. The actual flash will occur when the machine restarts - do not interrupt this in any way, even if nothing appears to be happening for a while - when it has completed, the machine will load into Windows as usual.

Hi DP-K
I have followed your instructions. It does say that it is sp74599 and clicked your link.
I had an instruction window that says: Update: this BIOS update is blocked on this device. Then it gives me 2 options, to make a USB copy or to make a file copy.
Could it be the BIOS update is not meant for my laptop?

Hi Paul,
It's always possible the update isn't intended for your notebook, but I think that's unlikely - it may be an issue with the config file in the update. Certainly, I would not try to force the flash as the only enhancement listed is 'Provides the updated bios'.
What is the current Bios revision on your machine? (you can get this quickly by holding down the fn key and pressing esc).
