Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

I want to update my BIOS prior to upgrading my RAM(as it is recommended to update BIOS before memory installation), however when I have to chose an operating system to get updates, I do not see my OS. I have updated it to Windows 10 Home 64bit. When I am entering to my BIOS, I can see that it states Win8 as a factory installed OS. Could you please suggest me an option ?

Thanks in advance!

You're very welcome.

That was the original BIOS that came with your PC.

As I wrote yesterday, updating the BIOS in W10, which was written to run on W8.1, could wreck your PC.

Are you willing to roll the dice on that?  I wouldn't be.

I would say there is a 99% chance if you install the memory with your current BIOS installed, you will be just fine.

The memory will be useless to you if the BIOS update wrecks your notebook.

Hi:

I would suggest that you install the memory using the current BIOS.

I do not recommend that you update the BIOS unless you are running a supported operating system.

Only on rare occasions is a BIOS update necessary for memory upgrades.

For example on your model...the latest BIOS update does this...

- Provides improved security of UEFI code and variables.   Nothing to do with memory, or memory management.

Previous versions...Nothing to do with memory, or memory management.

Version: F.27 Rev.A

Fixed in this release: - Provides improved security of UEFI code and variables.

Version: F.26 Rev.A

Fixed in this release: - Provides improved security of UEFI code and variables.

Version: F.24 A

Fixed in this release: - Provides improved security of UEFI code and variables.

NOTE: HP strongly recommends promptly transitioning to this updated BIOS version which supersedes all previous releases.

Version: F.23

Fixed in this release: - Provides improved security for UEFI EDK2.

NOTE: HP strongly recommends transitioning promptly to this updatedBIOS version.

Version: F.21

Fixed in this release: - Fixes an intermittent issue which causes the playback of high definition (HD) video using the Metro Video application to beslower than expected.

Version: F.15

Fixed in this release: - Fixes an intermittent issue which causes an error message to bedisplayed when the system runs the 3Dmark06 Demo Loop.

Version: F.08

Fixed in this release: - Fixes an intermittent issue where the USB 3.0 device test does not function properly.

Version: F.06

Fixed in this release: - Fixes an intermittent issue which causes an error message to be displayed when the system resumes from sleep or hibernate mode.

Version: F.04

Fixed in this release: - Provides the initial BIOS release.

My current BIOS version is shown as  F.14

Is not it too old anyway?
