Hi @kero393,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
Thank you for your question about updating the BIOS on your Victus by HP 16.1" Gaming Laptop 16-r0000 (76S99AV) with an Intel Core i5-13500H processor. You've noticed that HP offers two different BIOS updates:
- HP Notebook System BIOS Update (Intel Core HX55 Processors)
- HP Notebook System BIOS Update (Intel Core H45 Processors)
Installing the wrong BIOS version (e.g., HX55 on an H45 system) can lead to:
- BIOS update failure
- Boot issues
- Permanent damage in worst-case scenarios
Best and Safest Recommendation:
Use the HP Support Assistant to auto-detect and install the correct BIOS:
How to Do It:
- Open HP Support Assistant (pre-installed on most HP laptops)
- Or download from: HP Support Assistant | HP® Support
- Go to the “Updates” tab.
- Click “Check for updates and messages”.
- If a BIOS update is available, the correct version for your exact model and CPU will appear.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to install.
🛡️ HP Support Assistant ensures only compatible BIOS versions are shown and installed, making it the safest and most reliable way to update your firmware.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Hi @kero393,
Thanks for the update, and I’m glad to hear you were able to successfully update the BIOS via Windows Update — that’s a great step toward ensuring your system stays optimised.
While HP Support Assistant is useful, some firmware and BIOS updates are indeed delivered directly through Windows Update, especially on newer devices running Windows 11.
If you experience any further issues or have questions about drivers, performance, or connectivity, feel free to post again
Take care and have a good day.
