Battery Issue - HP Notebook - 14-ck0505sa

Hi there, 

 

I was wondering if anyone could help me? I've had the following notebook HP - 14-ck0505sa for over a year now and I''ve seem to be having issues with the battery. 

 

Whenever I'm using the laptop it would automatically shutdown without giving a notification that the battery is low. Normally a noticication would pop up saying to plug in the charger however it doesn't do that anymore. Also there is no specific % when it might shut down, I've noticed at times when the battery is at 18% it turns off and at other times the battery is in the 20's it still turns off. 

 

In addition, when I turn the laptop on I get an error message - 601 (which means that my battery is operating at lower capacity). I've already carried out a battery check and the results showed it was "very weak". So I'm sure I need a battery replacement.

 

But I'm not sure who to contact I orginally purchased my laptop at Curry's and the warranty expired 6 months so I don't think I can fix it through them. Does HP provide any services to fix a one time issue like replacing the battery?

The battery probably needs to be replaced.

 

HP hardware on a standard consumer notebook is a year unless specifically stated otherwise.

 

HP Limited Warranty Statements (General Information)

Standard Warranty, that is, the warranty included with the device, typically covers hardware as explained in the Warranty document.  Optional Care Pack warranties differ by contract.

 

What to do?

If you wish to do so, Test the battery
