Hi everyone,
I have a question about how to enable battery charge limiting on my HP Aero 13 laptop. I want to preserve the battery life and avoid overcharging it when I leave it plugged in for a long time. I already have the adaptive battery optimizer setting enabled in the BIOS, but it doesn't seem to work. Also, the command center only features a network optimizer feature so I can't control the adaptive charge setting there.
The battery stays at 100% even when I plug it in for a day or more. Is there any other setting or software that I need to install to limit the charge level to something like 80% or 90%? I would appreciate any help or advice from other users who have the same model or a similar one. Thanks in advance!

Hi @VereyVere,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd like to help!
To enable battery charge limiting on your HP Aero 13 laptop, you can follow these steps:
Open the HP Command Center app on your laptop. If you don't have it installed, you can download it from the Microsoft Store.
Once the app is open, click on the "Battery" tab on the left-hand side of the screen.
Under the "Battery Health Manager" section, toggle the switch to turn it on.
You will see two options for battery health: "Maximize my battery health" and "Maximize my battery lifespan." Choose the option that suits your needs.
If you choose "Maximize my battery health," you can set the battery charging limit to 50%, 80%, or 100% by using the slider. If you choose "Maximize my battery lifespan," the charging limit will automatically be set to 80%.
Click on "Apply" to save the changes.
That's it! Your HP Aero 13 laptop will now limit the battery charge to the level you have set, which will help to prolong the overall lifespan of your battery.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Hey Elohi,
Thanks for taking the time to write your response. I explored all of the HP apps including the command center, and there is no "Battery" tab on the left-hand side of the screen in the command center, as you said. It's frustrating because what you are talking about is exactly what I'm looking for!
I do not have the laptop at the moment as I sent it back to HP for an exchange for other reasons regarding faulty components. I will come back to this post and respond with an update to your instructions when I have my new machine.

Hi Elohi,
I just set up my new Aero notebook and updated all windows store apps, completed all windows updates, and installed all software updates in the hp suppport assistant app. Unfortunately, like I had figured, the command center does not show anything like what you are talking about. I just see a goofy looking network utility that I'll probably never use.
I attached some images of what I see in my command center as well as the support assistant under the battery section. There appears to be no way to limit charge percentage on this device. Is that true?

Hi @VereyVere,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I see that you want to set battery charging limit on your HP Notebook.
Please follow the steps listed below:
1. Shut down your computer.
2. Wait for a few seconds.
3. Power on your computer and immediately start pressing the Esc key until you see the Startup Menu.
4. Press the F10 function key to enter your system BIOS.
6. After entering the BIOS, select the System Configuration tab by using the arrow keys.
7. You will see the Battery Care Function option. Highlight it by using your arrow keys and press Enter to change its value.
8. By default, the Battery Care Function is set to 100%. You have to change it to 80%.
9. Save the changes and exit BIOS.
Let me know if this helps and have a nice day ahead.

Hey Rainbow23,
I appreciate you taking the time to try and help me. Unfortunately, when I enter the BIOS and go under the configuration tab I don't see anything pertaining to "battery care". Rather confusingly I do see an option for adaptive battery optimizer, but that option is already enabled and the laptop just sits at 100% charge when it's on AC. Not really sure what that one's supposed to do.
Any ideas? Thank you!
