I'm using a Victus by HP 15.6 inch Gaming Laptop 15-fb0000 on windows 11, It worked perfectly fine earlier but now after more than 2 years and few months i have been experiencing a problem multiple times now when put to charge sometimes the charging light keeps blinking red and doesn't charge beyond what it is and mostly my battery percentage is around 36% and this problem doesnt end untill i apply a hard restart and i charge to 95 % to sometime 100%.

Hi @abcd1234893185,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I can imagine how frustrating it must be to see your Victus by HP 15-fb0000 laptop stuck at around 36% battery, with the charging light blinking red, especially after more than two years of reliable use. That blinking light feels like a warning, but the system isn’t telling you what’s wrong, and that’s deeply unsettling.

Recommended Steps for Red Blinking Charging Light & Stuck Battery

1. Understand the Red Blinking Light

A blinking red light typically means:

  • Battery not charging properly
  • Power delivery issue
  • The battery is critically low or not detected

Since your battery test shows “Normal,” this points more toward a charging circuit or firmware issue.

Steps to Try

Step 1: Perform a Full Power Drain and Reset

  1. Unplug the charger.
  2. Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.
  3. Leave the laptop unplugged for 10 minutes.
  4. Plug the charger directly into a wall outlet (not a surge protector).
  5. Try powering on and check if charging resumes.

Step 2: Check HP Battery Health via Command Line

Even if HP Diagnostics says “Normal,” let’s double-check:

  • Press Windows + X → choose Command Prompt (Admin).
  • Type: powercfg /batteryreport
  • This creates a report in your user folder. Open it and check:
    • Design Capacity vs Full Charge Capacity
    • Cycle Count
    • Any recent charge failures

Step 3: Update BIOS and Chipset Drivers

Outdated firmware can cause charging misbehavior.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
