Hi @jxde,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I hear that your laptop battery is stuck at 100.

From the HP troubleshooting guidance, “Battery not recognised, not charging” symptoms include:

  • No battery status light

  • Blinking amber

  • No boot without AC adapter

  • HP also states that if the battery status light is off, the battery may not be recognised. If diagnostics report “no battery” or “unknown,” HP recommends using HP PC Hardware Diagnostics | HP® Support to verify battery recognition and condition. If the issue remains after reset steps and testing, HP guidance says to test with a verified working AC adapter and battery, and if it persists, the system board may need service.

What to do next:

Check whether the battery is physically recognised:

  • If your model has a removable battery, reseat it and make sure it is installed properly with no gap or obstruction.

  • Inspect battery connectors for visible damage.

Test with AC adapter connected:

  • HP recommends confirming the AC adapter is working properly, because adapter issues can affect charging and battery detection.

Run HP PC Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI):

  • Restart the notebook.

  • Press Esc, then F2.

  • Run the battery test and check whether it reports passed, weak, replace, no battery, or unknown.

If diagnostics still says battery not found:

  • This strongly suggests either:

    • the battery is faulty / not being detected, or

    • the system board/battery connection has an issue.

I hope this will help.

Take care and have a good day.

I'm an HP Employee.
