After switching to Eco Mode in the OMEN Gaming Hub, my HP Victus 15-fa0031dx went completely black after the Victus startup logo. The laptop still powers on — the fans, keyboard lights, and screen backlight are all active — but nothing appears on the display.

I can confirm the system is running because I can open files and apps using keyboard shortcuts, but I can’t see anything on the screen.

I’ve tried:

Restarting the laptop several times

Entering the Startup Menu (F9, F11)

Trying recovery options

The issue persists. It started immediately after enabling Eco Mode in OMEN Gaming Hub.

Could anyone from HP or the community please help me fix this?

I believe it might be a firmware or GPU driver issue linked to Eco Mode.

Thank you,

Hi @Kujin,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I can imagine how frustrating it must be to have your Victus 15-fa0031dx go completely black right after enabling Eco Mode in OMEN Gaming Hub, especially when you can tell the system is running, but the display shows nothing. Let’s break this down and get you back on track.

Recommended Steps to Fix It

1. Perform a Hard Reset

  • Turn off the laptop completely.
  • Disconnect the charger and remove any external devices.
  • Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
  • Reconnect the charger and power on.

2. Boot into Safe Mode

Since the screen is black, use blind key navigation:

  • Press Ctrl + Alt + DelTab twice → Enter (to open Task Manager).
  • Press Alt + FN → type msconfig → Enter.
  • In System Configuration, use the arrow keys to select the Boot tab, then enable Safe Boot.
  • Restart the laptop.

In Safe Mode, uninstall OMEN Gaming Hub and GPU drivers (AMD/NVIDIA).

3. Reset BIOS Settings

  • Power on and press F10 repeatedly to enter BIOS.
  • Use arrow keys to select Restore Defaults or Reset to Factory Settings.
  • Save and exit.

4. Reinstall GPU Drivers

5. Update OMEN Gaming Hub

If you reinstall it later, ensure it’s the latest version from the Microsoft Store: OMEN Gaming Hub | HP® Official Site.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
