I often get a Blue Screen of Death with Win11 on my HP Pavilion 15 Laptop!
What is remarkable: it happens when the HP Pavilion 15 Laptop is waiting; it has not happened yet when the PC is in use. Imagine: I performed a sci computing one hour long and went for eating. When I came back, I saw all my results crashed!
Generally, I am very disappointed with the HP machine!
If somebody knows a solution, please be so kind to mail me at [personal info removed]
Thanks!

Hi @Ye_Gayev,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Experiencing a Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) on your HP Pavilion 15 Laptop, especially when the system is idle, can be frustrating. The issue could be caused by various factors, including hardware problems, driver conflicts, or issues with the Windows 11 operating system.
Here are some steps to help diagnose and potentially resolve the issue:
Check Event Viewer Logs
- Open the Event Viewer (you can search for it in the Start menu).
- Navigate to Windows Logs > System and look for any critical errors or warnings around the time when the BSOD occurred. These logs can provide clues about what caused the crash.
Update Drivers
- Ensure that all your drivers are up to date, particularly the graphics, network, and chipset drivers.
- You can do this via the Device Manager or by visiting the HP Support website and downloading the latest drivers for your specific model.
Disable Power Management Settings
- Sometimes, power management settings can cause issues when the system is idle.
- Go to Control Panel > Power Options and set your power plan to High Performance.
- Also, click on Change plan settings > Change advanced power settings, and disable any settings related to sleep, hibernate, and PCI Express Link State Power Management.
Check for Windows Updates
- Make sure that your Windows 11 is fully updated. Sometimes, BSOD issues are resolved through patches released by Microsoft.
Run System File Checker (SFC) and DISM
- Open Command Prompt as an administrator and run the following commands:
- sfc /scannow - This will scan and repair any corrupted system files.
- DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth - This will check and repair the Windows image.
Check for Hardware Issues
- Run HP PC Hardware Diagnostics to check for any hardware issues. This can usually be done by pressing F2 during startup.
- Also, consider running a Memory Diagnostic Tool (search for it in the Start menu) to check for any issues with your RAM.
Disable Fast Startup
- Fast Startup can sometimes cause issues with system stability.
- Go to Control Panel > Power Options > Choose what the power buttons do > Change settings that are currently unavailable, and uncheck Turn on fast startup.

Perform a Clean Boot
- A clean boot can help identify if a startup program or service is causing the issue.
- Press Windows + R, type msconfig, and press Enter.
- Go to the Services tab, check Hide all Microsoft services, and then click Disable all.
- Then, go to the Startup tab and click Open Task Manager. Disable all startup items.
- Restart your computer and see if the issue persists.
Consider a System Restore or Reset
- If the issue started recently, consider performing a System Restore to revert your system to a point before the BSODs began.
- If all else fails, consider resetting Windows 11. Go to Settings > System > Recovery, and under Reset this PC, choose to keep your files but remove apps and settings.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
