Hi @HaHa80,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are getting the "Thread Stuck in Device Driver" blue screen error indicates that a device driver, most commonly related to the graphics card, is stuck in an infinite loop while waiting for the hardware to become idle. This is typically caused by issues with the display or video drivers, but it can also occur due to outdated drivers or hardware conflicts.
Here's how you can troubleshoot and resolve the issue:
1. Update Graphics Drivers
Automatic Update:
- Right-click the Start menu and select Device Manager.
- Expand Display adapters.
- Right-click on your graphics card (e.g., AMD or NVIDIA) and select Update driver.
- Choose Search automatically for updated driver software.
Manual Update:
- Visit the manufacturer’s website for your graphics card (e.g., AMD, NVIDIA, or Intel).
- Download the latest driver version compatible with your system.
- Install the driver and restart your computer.
2. Uninstall and Reinstall Graphics Drivers
- If updating the driver doesn’t fix the issue, try reinstalling the graphics drivers:
- Open Device Manager.
- Expand Display adapters, right-click your graphics card, and select Uninstall device.
- Check the box that says Delete the driver software for this device, then click Uninstall.
- Restart your computer.
- Windows will automatically try to reinstall the drivers, or you can manually install the latest driver from the manufacturer’s website.
3. Update BIOS
- Sometimes, outdated BIOS firmware can cause compatibility issues. Visit the HP Support website for your HP ENVY x360 - 15-ds0015no and check if there's a BIOS update available. Make sure to carefully follow the instructions for updating the BIOS.
4. Check for Windows Updates
- Ensure that Windows is up to date as new updates often include fixes for bugs and compatibility issues.
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
- Click Check for updates and install any pending updates.
5. Run System File Checker (SFC)
- Corrupted system files may also cause this error. You can run the SFC tool to check and repair system files:
- Open Command Prompt as Administrator (right-click Start and choose Command Prompt (Admin)).
- Type sfc /scannow and press Enter.
- Wait for the process to complete, then restart your computer.
6. Run the Hardware and Devices Troubleshooter
- This can identify and automatically fix issues with hardware and drivers.
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot.
- Select Hardware and Devices and follow the on-screen instructions.
7. Check for Overheating
- Overheating can cause hardware issues, including blue screen errors. Make sure your laptop’s cooling system is working properly and clean out any dust blocking airflow.
