Hi everyone,

I'm having an issue with the built-in camera on my HP laptop. Whenever I try to open the Camera app or use it for video calls, I get a message saying "0xA00F4244 (NoCamerasAreAttached)." It’s like the system doesn’t even recognize that there’s a camera at all. 

 

I have tried few things.

  • Looked for a physical camera switch on the laptop — pretty sure this model doesn’t have one.

  • Checked privacy settings — camera access is on for all apps and services.

  • In Camera settings, Windows just says no camera is found.

You've already checked the privacy settings and confirmed there's no physical camera switch, great first steps!

Let’s walk through a few more troubleshooting steps to help resolve this:

Check Device Manager for Camera

  1. Press Windows + X and select Device Manager.
  2. Look under Imaging Devices, Cameras, or Sound, video and game controllers.
    • If you see HP Wide Vision HD Camera or similar, right-click it and choose Enable device (if disabled).
    • If it’s missing or has a yellow triangle, continue to the next step.

Scan for Hardware Changes

  1. In Device Manager, click Action > Scan for hardware changes.
  2. If the camera appears, try using the Camera app again.

Reinstall Camera Driver

  1. In Device Manager, right-click the camera (if visible) and choose Uninstall device.
  2. Restart your laptop, Windows should automatically reinstall the driver.
  3. If not, you can manually install the driver from HP support page: Official HP® Support

Enable Camera in BIOS

Sometimes the camera can be disabled at the BIOS level.

  1. Restart your laptop and press Esc repeatedly, then F10 to enter BIOS.
  2. Navigate to Advanced > Built-in Device Options.
  3. Ensure the Integrated Camera is enabled.
  4. Save and exit BIOS.

Update BIOS and Chipset Drivers

Outdated BIOS or chipset drivers can cause hardware detection issues.

  • Visit the HP Support Page and:
    • Download and install the latest BIOS update.
    • Install the latest Intel Chipset Driver.

Test in HP Hardware Diagnostics

  1. Turn off the laptop.
  2. Turn it back on and immediately press Esc, then F2 to open HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI.
  3. Select Component Tests > Webcam and run the test.

If the test fails, it may indicate a hardware issue.

Hey,

 

First of all I opened device manager and try to find Camera but any types of Camera is not listed there, I also check after enabling "show hidden devices", I also scanned for hardware changes but it did not worked. Then, I entered BIOS and tried to find advanced setting, but I did not find any. After that, I tried to do HP hardware Diagnostics, but there were no webcam in that. However, few months ago I tested webcam in HP hardware Diagnostics and test was successful, for reference I've attached logs of HP hardware Diagnostics with this reply.

Update Camera Drivers: Ensure that the camera drivers are up to date. You can check for driver updates by going to Device Manager and looking under 'Cameras', then right-clicking your camera and selecting 'Update driver'.

Camera Privacy Cover: If your HP Victus is equipped with a camera privacy cover, ensure that it is open. Sometimes the cover can block the camera's view if it's accidentally closed.

Windows Permissions: Verify that apps have permission to access your camera. Go to Privacy settings > Camera and ensure access is enabled for the necessary applications.
