I thought HP machines came with a pre-installed licensed version of WinRAR. WinRAR is now asking me to buy a license. Is it mandatory for me to now purchase the license?

Hi,

I do not believe that any PC comes with free WINRAR licence

Most likely you can continue using it, it will give you a prompt to purchase.

In any cas you could use other free software for the same purpose and uninstall WINRAR

Example 7-Zip

Hope it helps,
