Hello,
Camera not detected on Windows 11 – Error 0xA00F4244 (HP Laptop)

I’m facing an issue with my HP laptop where the built-in camera is not working on Windows 11. The Camera app shows the following error: Error code: 0xA00F4244 (No cameras are attached)

Troubleshooting done so far: Checked Privacy settings → Camera access is enabled Verified Device Manager → Camera not showing / not detected Performed Scan for hardware changes → No change Checked BIOS settings → Camera is enabled Verified BIOS version: Insyde F.25 (27-03-2024) (already up to date)

Current situation: Camera is not detected at system level Not appearing in Device Manager Error persists across apps

Request: Could you please help confirm: If this is a known issue with HP devices Any driver or firmware fix available Or if this indicates a possible hardware issue (camera module/cable)

Any guidance would be appreciated. Thank you.

Hi @paridhan99,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand the built-in camera on your HP laptop is not being detected in Windows 11, and you are receiving the error: Error 0xA00F4244 (No cameras are attached)

Please try the following recommended steps.

Step 1: Perform a Hard Reset

  1. Shut down the laptop completely.
  2. Disconnect the charger and all external devices.
  3. Press and hold the Power button for 15 seconds.
  4. Reconnect the charger and start the laptop again.

Step 2: Run HP Hardware Diagnostics for the Camera

  1. Turn the laptop OFF.
  2. Turn it ON and immediately tap the Esc key repeatedly.
  3. Press F2 for HP PC Hardware Diagnostics
  4. Go to:
    • Component Tests
    • Camera (if available)

Please check whether:

  • The camera test passes,
  • Or whether any failure ID/error appears.

Step 3: Update Drivers Through Windows Update

  1. Go to: Settings → Windows Update
  2. Select: Advanced Options → Optional Updates
  3. Install all: Camera, Imaging, Chipset, and firmware-related updates.

Step 4: Reinstall Camera Drivers

  1. Open Device Manager
  2. Select:
    • View → Show hidden devices
  3. Expand:
    • Cameras,
    • Imaging devices,
    • Universal Serial Bus controllers.
  4. If you see any camera-related or unknown device:
    • Right-click → Uninstall device
  5. Restart the PC.
