Hi @Saeer15,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Sorry for the inconvenience caused don’t worry let me help you.

To better understand the issue, could you please provide a few more details?

  • What is the exact HP laptop model?
  • Which Windows version are you using (Windows 10 or 11)?
  • Did the camera ever work before, or is this the first time you’re seeing the error?
  • Does this error appear in all apps (Camera app, Zoom, Teams, etc.) or just one?
  • Have there been any recent updates or changes to the system?

Kindly check for  physical camera shutter or privacy switch on the laptop or keyboard (some HP models have one).

Check Camera Permissions

  • Go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera
  • Ensure Camera access is turned ON
  • Make sure “Let apps access your camera” is enabled

Device Manager

  • Press Windows + X → Device Manager
  • Expand Cameras or Imaging Devices
    • If the camera is listed:
      • Right-click it → Enable device (if disabled)
      • Or Uninstall device, then restart the laptop
    • If the camera is not listed at all, that may indicate a driver or hardware issue

Update or Reinstall Camera Drivers

  • Visit the HP Support website
  • Enter your laptop model
  • Download and install the latest camera and chipset drivers
  • Restart after installation

Run Windows Troubleshooter

  • Go to Settings → System → Troubleshoot → Other troubleshooters
  • Run the Camera troubleshooter (if available)

I hope this helps.
