Good morning Mr. Hawk,

I hope you are doing well. I ran UEFI as you said; there was no camera list, but there was a touchscreen. When I ran the touchscreen, it wasn't working. When I ran other programs, it showed pass or fail, but not on the touchscreen. Also, when I ran the BIOS, it showed no camera found. I tried a Windows reinstall; everything is working well, but the camera and touchscreen. When I open the camera app, it shows the error code:0xA00f4244(NoCamerasAreAttached). Thank you for your hard work. Have a good one.

Hi @ArakanSan

Thank you for running those tests and sharing the results. I appreciate the detailed update.

Based on what you found:

  • The BIOS reports no camera found.
  • HP Hardware Diagnostics does not detect the camera.
  • The touchscreen test does not respond correctly.
  • Windows reinstall did not restore either device.
  • The camera app continues to show 0xA00F4244 (NoCamerasAreAttached).
  • Device Manager previously reported USB\DEVICE_DESCRIPTOR_FAILURE (Code 43).

Taken together, this suggests Windows is not able to detect the camera hardware itself. Since the issue remains even after a Windows reinstallation and the camera is not being detected at the BIOS/UEFI level, this is no longer pointing toward a missing Windows driver alone.

To help narrow this down further, could you please check the following:

  1. In Device Manager, expand Universal Serial Bus controllers.
  2. Look for the device showing Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed).
  3. Right-click it and select Properties.
  4. Go to the Details tab.
  5. From the Property drop-down, select Location information and then Parent (if available).
  6. Please share a screenshot of those details.

I would also like to confirm one point:

  • Did the camera and touchscreen stop working at the same time, or did one fail before the other?

Because both devices appear to be affected together, there is a possibility they share an internal connection path. The additional Device Manager information will help determine whether the hardware is still being detected by the system at any level.

Thank you again for your patience and for performing all of the troubleshooting so far. I look forward to your update.

Have a great day!

Good morning. Thank you for your hard work. I am sorry that I didn't realize that both failed at the same time, but I hope they failed at the same time. On the other hand, I have 2 kids, and they play on my computer, watch YouTube, and learn. Here is the attached screenshot for you. Let me know what is next. Have a good one.

Hi @ArakanSan

Thank you for taking the time to run the diagnostics and share the screenshot. I appreciate the detailed information.

Based on everything you've reported so far:

  • The camera is not detected in BIOS.
  • HP Hardware Diagnostics does not detect the camera.
  • The Camera app reports 0xA00F4244 (NoCamerasAreAttached).
  • Windows was reinstalled with no change.
  • The touchscreen is detected but does not respond during testing.
  • Device Manager shows Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed).

Since the camera is not being detected even outside of Windows, this points away from a software or driver issue. The screenshot also confirms that Windows is unable to properly identify the USB device, which is why a camera driver cannot be loaded.

What stands out is that both the camera and touchscreen appear to have stopped functioning together. On this HP Pavilion All-in-One model, those components are located in the display assembly and can share internal connections.

When both features fail at the same time and remain unavailable after a Windows reinstall, it may indicate an issue with the internal cabling between the display assembly and motherboard, or with the hardware within the display assembly itself.

Could you please check one additional detail:

  1. Open Device Manager.
  2. Right-click the Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed).
  3. Select Properties.
  4. Go to the Details tab.
  5. From the Property drop-down menu, select Hardware Ids.
  6. Share a screenshot of the values shown there.

If the Hardware IDs cannot be read and Windows continues to report a descriptor failure, that would further suggest the device is not communicating correctly with the system hardware.

Thank you again for your patience and for working through these tests. The information gathered so far has been very helpful in narrowing down the cause.

Have a great day!

Hi @ArakanSan

Thank you for sharing the screenshot.

I reviewed the image, and the Hardware IDs field is completely blank while the device status remains "Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)". This is an important finding because Windows is unable to retrieve even the basic identification information from the device.

Considering all of the results collected so far:

  • The camera is not detected in BIOS.
  • HP Hardware Diagnostics does not detect the camera.
  • The Camera app reports 0xA00F4244 (NoCamerasAreAttached).
  • Windows was reinstalled with no change.
  • The touchscreen is detected but does not respond.
  • The Hardware IDs field is blank due to a descriptor failure.

These results indicate that the system is not able to communicate with the device at a hardware level. Since the issue persists outside of Windows and affects both the camera and touchscreen, additional driver installations are unlikely to resolve it.

As a final check, please power down the PC completely, disconnect all external USB devices, and enter BIOS again to verify whether the camera appears under the installed hardware information. If the camera continues to be absent there, the evidence strongly points toward an internal hardware communication issue involving the display assembly, its internal cable connection, or the associated hardware circuitry.

Thank you for your patience and for performing all of these tests. The information you've provided has been very helpful in narrowing down the cause.

Have a great day!
