My HP Victus’ built-in camera is not working. The camera is not detected in Device Manager, even with hidden devices enabled, and the camera indicator light does not turn on when I try to use it. I’ve checked permissions and updates, but the issue remains.

Hi @Karthikkk2,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Since your HP Victus camera is missing from Device Manager even with hidden devices enabled, and the indicator light does not turn on, please try these additional checks:

  • Check the camera privacy control: Look for a physical camera shutter or a keyboard key with a camera icon. If present, make sure the camera is enabled.
  • Scan for hardware changes: Open Device Manager, select Action > Scan for hardware changes, and check under Cameras, Imaging devices, and Universal Serial Bus controllers for any camera or unknown device.
  • Check Windows Update: Go to Settings > Windows Update > Advanced options > Optional updates and check whether any relevant camera or chipset drivers are available.
  • Check the camera in BIOS/UEFI diagnostics: Restart the laptop, repeatedly press Esc, and then press F2 to open HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI. Check whether a camera test is available. The available tests vary by model.

To help us determine the next step, could you please share:

  • The exact HP Victus model or product number.
  • Whether the camera worked previously and, if so, when it stopped working.
  • Whether the issue started after a Windows update, BIOS update, or physical damage.

If the camera remains completely undetected after these checks, further hardware assessment may be necessary.

Best regards,
Kuroi_Kenshi
