You have my exact model number and product name. I'm just going to keep trying on my own. You won't find anything outside of the windows store.

I don't want to keep messaging you every day to say "I already did that, it was in the messages you aren't remembering".

I'll ask once more for you to contact a Tier 3 technician whom might have some actual info, barring that we're done here.

That's what happens when I try to access private messages on this terrorsite. You haven't sent me any PM. I have found multiple other posts on this same forum of people having the exact same issue with the exact same key.

A flag needs to be raised or refunds given.

Milkexkinerad - have you gotten a solution to this? When I press that button it only gives me the option to launch HP omen (which I uninstalled ) and My HP. I want to be able to select what apps it launches.

I would kill to have ANY semblance of functionality on this key. Vikram was zero help and DMed me to give up and pawn me off on some random HP page not knowing it would just tell me to pay money.

You are going to want to test going to service (type services in search bar), looks for the hp hotkey support service, and try setting it to disabled then stopping it. While you do that, try installing the Microsoft Store app named HP Programmable Key. maybe a combo of that service being manipulated while you fiddle with the program will work.

Outside of that, try manipulating the service while you install the Windows PowerToys beta, it has a Keyboard Manager function where you can re-map keys.

Best of luck, bro.

Thanks for the details. My issue is that I don't have the "hp hotkey support" service installed. I tried searching for it but can't find it. I found an HP  Programmable Key app, but it needs the hotkey service. Running in circles.

I might try the power toys as an option, but was hoping to use the HP software.

ohhh, okay word. I'm on your wavelength. So what you should try and do is follow this link, it's the official HP.com ftp server. Now, here's what I was doing for a while: You can search indexed webpages with google and stuff, i wanted the service so I found the FTP links... Now, those links all have different suffixes (.html, .exe). You can get the info for the program with .html, and the program itself with .exe.

I am going to try and post the link to the HP site here. but if that doesn't work, you will have to google "hp ftp sp139275 hotkey UWP", this is the newest Hp Hotkey Service I can find. https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp139001-139500/sp139275.html. So again, if you want to read about it, it has .html. but to download just change .html to .exe and you're golden

NOW, the "softpaq" (how HP bundles software with services and drivers) of the HP Programmable Key program is here, and going around in there may get some requisites installed that your pc needs: https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp149501-150000/sp149853.html

see if PowerToys works, first thing. Just so you know you at least have a functional alternative before you waste time mucking about.

Thanks for the tips. I tried all and no luck. The Programmable Key app still says it needs the Hotkey app, even though I installed it. There are no services running for it either. PowerToys cannot see the special function keys.
